People seem to be outraged that there are people who are paid protestors, but isn’t that every female in a relationship?
Obviously one of the big headlines in 2014 was racist police officers, from Ferguson to Staten Island, mainly because the media loves a good old fashioned race riot. This of course has led to the “Black Lives Matter” protests, the killing of police officers and a bigger divide between the races in this country. I find so many things about what has matriculated to be extremely sad but what I find most pathetic is the general public’s inability to see through the what is being concocted in order to make a country that is already on edge even more tense.
When I was in high school and college I did not care for the cops. I thought they were all asshole pigs that were on power trips. When I started hanging out in bars (and was legal to drink) and when I began to bartend is when I actually had real life interactions with police officers. A lot of the bars would have detail cops on busier nights and guess what? They were not assholes, they were probably some of the most fun people I have ever met. Probably because of the level of intensity of the shit that they have to deal with day-in and day-out. I learned one very important thing about police officers during this time; much like the rest of us when it comes to work, they can be lazy.
I can remember the detail cops giving people who were in bar fights or causing a drunken raucous every single opportunity to walk away from the situation. They did not want to arrest them. Why? Because if they arrested them then at the end of the night they would have to do the paper work. I don’t blame them. I would not want to work a regular day shift and then a few hours later have to go into to work again to stand in a crowded, loud bar filled with drunks to only have to extend the night by filling out reports accurately. So if these police officers are trying to avoid paper work for something so minor as an overly drunken college girl then imagine how much they would want to avoid the forms that go along with actually having to shoot a person, let alone kill them? Exactly.
Yes, there are racist police officers just like there are racist insert any profession here. However, I do not believe that the recent highlighted instances in the news had anything to do with discrimination of skin color. I’m just asking people to think about it logically.
